Same for jenv, it's cool and all, but as far as I can tell it merely changes environment variables, so it has the same limitation. It won't affect an application started from OS launcher (unless you change the right file and logout/login, which is tedious). Many explain how to change $JAVA_HOME, but this only affects the current shell and what is launched from there. (*) Current answers are either obsolete (no longer valid for macOS El Capitan or Sierra), or only address a single JDK, or do not address the system-wide aspect. When working in a shell with alternate JDK, pick your method among existing answers ( jenv, or custom aliases/scripts around /usr/libexec/java_home, etc). System launcher will use the JDK with highest version among those that have an ist file. It will simply be ignored by system's java command. That JDK can still be used when $JAVA_HOME points to it, or explicitly referenced in a script or configuration.

The plot is that the Bacterians have traveled back in time to kidnap James Burton – the hero of the MSX Gradius 2 – when he’s still a kid. Strangely, this is one of the few shoot-em-ups to feature a fetch quest. Most of these are similar to its predecessor, in addition to some powerful variations of the standard laser. Rather than retrieving weapons from bosses like in Gradius 2 for MSX, you can find secret weapons hidden in each stage. A few bosses from Gradius II return, including the final boss and an attempt to replicate the big spider robot. ![]() There’s also a Moai stage, although this time they look a bit cybernetic. There’s also a hauntingly cool level filled with needles, and a sand level reminiscent of a stage in Gradius III, complete with a battle against a series of freaky-looking worms. There are gravity waves in the middle of this stage that can send your ship careening out of control if you’re not careful. Outside of the plant and biological levels, the types that would become standard in Gradius games, there’s a stage filled with warp holes, which transport you to the beginning of the level. You can also choose your Option formation, allowing for a fixed or rotating pattern. Much like Gradius II, you can pick from four different ship configurations, as well as two different shields. The word “Gradius” isn’t technically part of the title in the Japanese release, but the European title forgoes this confusion and calls it Nemesis 3. Outside of the first stage, and a couple of bosses, it’s a brand new game. At first glance, it may seem like this is just an MSX port of Gradius II, but it’s actually a sequel. The graphics remained nearly unaltered, the background music is mostly the arcade version's soundtrack in redbook audio format, and one additional stage was added that is similar to the temple stage in the NES version of Life Force and the first stage of Gradius III: From Legend to Myth. The first level in Gofer no Yabou: Episode II consists of a series of flaming suns, capping off with a fight against a gigantic, blazing eagle. Presumably this was due to the fact that the Famicom version employed a custom memory mapper dubbed the VRC4, which enhanced some of the game's graphics and sounds, such as animation and voices, thus converting the game to a standard memory mapper (as Konami later did with Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse) would have been too time-consuming (since the original Gradius was not as popular overseas as it was in Japan).Ī PC-Engine Super CD-ROM² port was later released only in Japan in 1992. The game was first ported to the Family Computer in 1988 and was never released outside Japan. The PC Engine version offers an different ending screen after completing the game, depending on difficulty select. In the Famicom version, choosing another multiple after four will make the four multiples to move around the spacecraft for 15 seconds force field is the only shielding available for protection of the entire spacecraft, withstanding three hits and it is included in four different weapon configurations and progressions and 'Double' and 'Laser' have to be activated twice to achieve full performance. The shield option adds more durability, but only for the front of the Vic Viper, while the forcefield adds protection for the entire spacecraft, albeit only against three hits. Additionally, there are also two types of shielding to choose from: shield and forcefield. ![]() ![]() The player can have at most four multiples. ![]() All schemes have speed-up and multiples (Options), but have differing 'Missile', 'Double' (laser), and 'Laser' weapons. Gradius II retains the selection bar from Gradius, but now the player can choose between four different weapon configurations and progressions. Another first in the series was the inclusion of the "boss rush" (also known as "boss parade" or "boss alley"), a level designed entirely with only boss confrontations. This is primarily evident in two of the weapons configurations that are selectable. Gradius II has kept the gameplay from the original game, but infused it with enhancements brought from the spin-off, Salamander (Life Force). The player returns as the role of the pilot of the Vic Viper spaceship to battle the second onslaughts of the Bacterion Empire, under the new leadership of Gofer, the giant head. ![]() Others have pointed out how this plainly will not solve the underlying problem, as they see it, with the Marketplace platform itself. “It’s your job to protect the customers you sell unchecked keys to, not mine.” “I don’t work for you,” said game developer Mike Bithell in a tweet. bot farmed 'gift' exploitation is the issue, not keys, and you know this, obviously - Mike Bithell July 12, 2019 I don't endorse or work with grey markets, or folks that secretly pay for positive press I don't work for you, it's your job to protect the customers you sell unchecked keys to, not mine. Making matters worse, it conceptually offloads the responsibility to police the G2A Marketplace to publishers and developers.įolks on social media simply aren’t having it. The system would also centralizes all that data, making it a target for hackers. Of course, that system also gives all the keys to G2A, which has sold keys itself in the past on its own marketplace. Developers would use a tool to enter individual game keys that it wants to exclude from sale, and G2A would then deny resellers the ability to sell those keys on the G2A Marketplace. Today it proposed a much more obvious solution: a system to exclude specific keys from being sold on its website. In response to developer, publisher, and consumer complaints over the years, G2A has beefed up its security practices to root out bad actors, and created G2A Direct to partner with willing developers to root out fraud. Those types of fraud can lead to customer service issues for publishers and developers, and even cost them money through credit card refunds and fees known as chargebacks. But it’s possible to acquire keys with a bot, through some form of identity theft, or even to purchase them with illegally obtained credit cards. Those codes could also come from wholesalers, or even other third-party platforms and services. Keys could be sourced directly from places like Steam, which is an authorized distributor who has agreements with publishers and developers to sell games to consumers. The trouble is that the Polish-owned, Hong Kong-based company is unable to vouch for the source of the game keys up for sale. The G2A Marketplace allows users to post game keys up for sale, a service that they say makes it a competitor to sites like eBay and Amazon. The offer comes after a fresh wave of scandal, and more than five years after the platform first opened for business. G2A, the company behind the controversial G2A Marketplace, has proposed to block certain game keys from being listed for sale on its storefront. |
